About:

Sanquelim is just a few kilometers from Bicholim’s regional center, along the route to Mayem Lake. In the middle of the 18th century, the colonial administration placed here the Rajput mercenaries (also known as “Ranes”), who also led their successful uprisings.

Near Sanquelim’s southern tip, the Arvalem Caves are worth a visit. You can see the Arvalem Waterfalls from just ten minutes away. They cascade through the woods during monsoons but are very quiet during dry winter.

The Dudhsagar Waterfalls sight, which cascades from the highlands at a height of 50m, is even more spectacular than this waterfall. It is still remarkable.

The waterfall is surrounded by beautiful scenery. Rudreshwar temple can be found nearby. The temple is very important to Hindus who believe that the soul will be released on the 12th of each month after death. Only a short drive away are the Rock Cut Caves. A park has been created by the government to allow visitors to enjoy a peaceful view of the waterfall.

Sanquelim can be reached easily by bus from Mapusa. But getting there takes roughly two hours. Getting to the falls or caverns requires walking for half an hour or using a motorbike taxi.
